Shattered Image

Shatter the Old Image!

You are not presently all that you are going to be.  God has more in store!  What may look like a delay, a disappointment or a failure in your eyes, is only a part of the “forming” that God is doing in your life right now.  Don’t be afraid to shatter the old “image” and the old patterns of behavior — someone much better looking is just on the other side!

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. — James 1:23-24

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. — Galatians 5:1

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. – Galatians 5:13

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. – Romans 6:22

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. — Romans 8:2

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, — Galatians 4:19

Fasting: Do You Have Parasites?

  • January 29, 2010 9:51 am

Do You Have Parasites?

The following is an excerpt from chapter 1 of my book, A Walk in the Wilderness:Wilderness

Parasites:
During the first prolonged 21-day fast that I did, I kept a journal of parasites that were eliminated from my body.  I was surprised (shocked actually) to see what was living off of my body!  Statistically, 85% of North Americans unknowingly have at least one form of digestive parasite.

In America, the number one cause of persons being infected with Ecoli bacteria is from drinking tap water.  It is also probable that most forms of parasites enter our bodies through tap water.  Fasting is a method to rid the body of parasites.

As you seek the Lord and desire to serve Him more, are you considering fasting?  Read on…

How Scriptural is Fasting?

Dr. GreenwoodThere are nearly 70 references to fasting in the Bible.  Each week, I’ll share a few verses with you.  Searching the bible will help you discover more about fasting for yourself.

Last week we looked at Mark 8:3.

Acts 27:9 — Paul making reference to the annual day of atonement

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them.

Freedom…

Forgiveness & Freedom

Asking God for forgiveness is one thing, but asking forgiveness from others is something completely different.  While it can be difficult, forgiveness moves us to a new place of freedom.  Forgiveness is a release of peace.

Ephesians 4:32 — Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Romans 12:19 — Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
Matthew 6:14-15 — For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Answer with Joy!

Answer with Joy

Words are very powerful.  They can build up, or tear down.  Words can bring dreams to life, or crush them.  So today you have a choice in how you answer… answer with joy.

Proverbs 15:23 — A man has joy by the answer of his mouth:and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

Proverbs 14:3 — In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride, But the lips of the wise will preserve them.

Proverbs 15:4 – The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

Fixing the Broken

Fixing the Broken

We serve a God of second chances.  It doesn’t matter how big the “train wreck,” God can get everything back on track.  He can fix whatever is broken.

The LORD  is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18

He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted. – Luke 4:18

O LORD , you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. – Isaiah 64:8

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Take the High Road

  • November 16, 2009 10:07 am

When others have failed us, it hurts.  The only true way to gain mastery over the pain is to forgive and release our heartache into the hand of God.  I know we have all heard this and we understand this in our minds, but walking it out is another thing.  We must encourage each other to take the high road.
1 Thessalonians 5:15-18 — See that none of you repays another with evil for evil, but always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody. Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always); Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]; Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will.]

Romans 12:14 — Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Luke 6:28 — Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Heavenly Healing…

  • November 2, 2009 10:41 am

Heavenly Healing

Sometimes the pain of life can leave us damaged.  In these areas of wounding, only God can truly repair us.  Don’t be afraid.  Reach for Him.  Don’t allow doubt to tell you, “your pain can never be fixed.”  God loves you.  God can heal you.

Isaiah 57:18 — I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

Jeremiah 30:17 — For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD;

John 14:27 — Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Renewed in Confidence

  • September 28, 2009 5:36 pm

Think back. There was a time when you moved in boldness. You had confidence to accomplish all you were called to do. Renew your courage. Don’t allow your confidence to be undermined. Be aware of your enemies: mistrust, apprehension, insecurity and doubt. Don’t listen to the words these enemies have spoken in your ear.  Renew, revive and restore your confidence. Take back the ground that has been lost and step ahead.

Proverbs 24:16 — For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth up again

Proverbs 14:26 — In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.

Joel 2:25a — And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten

Inside Enemy

  • September 14, 2009 11:40 am

Betrayal happens.  Mistakes get made.  People get hurt.  Without forgiveness, betrayal turns to bitterness.  Bitterness is an inside enemy.  Refuse to replay the matter in your mind.  Put it in the hand of the Lord and forgive.

Proverbs 18:19 — A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, and contentions are like the bars of a castle.

Ephesians 4:31 — Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Progress Report

  • September 10, 2009 9:45 am

God has been using this season to bring change and break old patterns of behavior in you and you have been making steady progress. This adjustment has been happening three-dimensionally: spirit, soul and body. While it has seemed to sap you of strength and time, it has all been part of God’s larger plans and purposes.  In the days ahead you will feel yourself start to pull-away from the doubt, pain, and uncertainty you have felt.  You will even look back and see clearly just how much the Lord has brought you through — and rejoice!
Psalm 27:13 — I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.

2 Corinthians 7:11 –  For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
