The Hand of God

  • June 30, 2009 12:36 pm
Do not continue to ponder things that you have no personal control over.  This can only cause frustration, disappointment and fault-finding. Determine to release these situations into the hand of God. Trust in Him. God’s grace is sufficient, even in the most difficult of situations.

2 Corinthians 12:9 — And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Numbers 11:23 — And the Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord’s hand shortened? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not.”

You Were Made for Him!

  • June 29, 2009 10:00 am

Remember that God made you to have fellowship with Him.  I hope that helps you prioritize the things you’re working on today!? You were made for Him.

“For by Him all things were created: things in Heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him.” — Colossians 1:16,

Image is Everything

  • June 26, 2009 3:30 pm

Stop looking at yourself through failed situations.  Refuse to take inventory of those things that you feel are “not working.”  Begin to look at everything through God’s eyes.  Use God’s Word as the lens that allows you to focus clearly.  See yourself in His image and it will change the way you approach everything else.

So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.– Genesis 1:27

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. — James 1:23-25

Less is More

  • June 23, 2009 10:58 am

Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe adopted the motto “Less is more” to describe his aesthetic but simplistic design style. I’ve often found myself applying this same saying to my walk with the Lord.  Sometimes, when I simply have no way of making things work on my own, God shows Himself strong and delivers me — right in the midst of my blatant weakness! I believe Paul also used this same “less is more” motto when he described that in his weakness God’s power was with him!

2 Corinthians 12:9 – But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Hebrews 4:16 – Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

2 Corinthians 12:10 — Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Expect the Unexpected

  • June 22, 2009 1:16 pm
Unexpected… Don’t be surprised when unexpected doors open.  God can move in unique ways to answer prayer.  Don’t be perplexed by an atypical answer.  Be open to a new or untraveled avenue.  Trust God to bring you through everything.

Revelation 3:8 — I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Isaiah 55:9  — For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

The Spirit of the Forerunner

Crying in the Wilderness

John the Baptist was the last prophetic voice before Jesus. The Gospel of Mark defines John as one who “prepares the way.”  The Greek word is: kataskeuazō
and it means: a forerunner, one who builds, erects and makes ready, one who equips with all necessary things.  John was all of this for Jesus and the message of salvation that He brought. John was a voice crying in the wilderness, compelling people to prepare the way for the Lord.

Matthew 3:1-3 — In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

I believe this same truth is relevant for us today.  Someone has to open the way for God to appear. There have been many who have lifted their voices in the wilderness over the course of human history.  But often, humans (and many times the religious leaders of the day) attacked, misunderstood and despised these voices.  Nonetheless, they were champions of the faith in God’s eyes.

Feel The Power!

Prayer Power

There is great power in prayer! I believe that our prayers are among the most powerful things on earth. Today, no matter what you face, you have the opportunity to tap into a heavenly power source that can bring change to any situation.

DO NOT BE ANXIOUS ABOUT ANYTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING, BY PRAYER AND PETITION, WITH THANKSGIVING, PRESENT YOUR REQUESTS TO GOD. – Philippians 4:6

THE LORD IS FAR FROM THE WICKED BUT HE HEARS THE PRAYER OF THE RIGHTEOUS. — Proverbs 15:29

BE JOYFUL ALWAYS; PRAY CONTINUALLY; GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, FOR THIS IS GOD’S WILL FOR YOU IN JESUS CHRIST. — 1 Thess. 5:16-18

THE PRAYER OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN IS POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE.  — James 5:16

Are You Hungry For More?

  • June 17, 2009 10:33 am

Are you?… Well, God will satisfy those who hunger!

“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.” — Psalm 63:1-5

“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” — John 6:35

“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” — John 4:34

Devil + Deception = Division

  • June 15, 2009 10:17 am

Be aware that the enemy will do his utmost to divide you from those who God has destined to be in your life — and he will attempt to push you into isolation.  Refuse to live under his oppression. Lean on the Lord.  Keep your mind focused on Him. Let Him be your strength.

Romans 16:17-20 — Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Psalm 133:1 — Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Feeling Confused?

  • June 13, 2009 9:21 am

Are You Feeling Confused?

In the fast-pace of today’s world, it is hard for most people to find much peace at all. It seems that confusion often abounds in many situations.  Jesus told us about this ahead of time: “THESE THINGS I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU, THAT IN ME YOU MAY HAVE PEACE. IN THE WORLD YOU WILL HAVE TRIBULATION;  BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.” – JOHN 16:33

“FOR GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION BUT OF PEACE, AS IN ALL THE CHURCHES OF THE SAINTS.” — 1 CORINTHIANS 14:33 (NKJV )
